Description
Grape – Verdejo
Say hello to Verdejo (“vurr-de-hoe”) It’s Spain’s signature white grape that put the little region of Rueda in northwest Spain on the Wine Map! It’s a great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio but more full bodied & aromatic with flavours of almonds, zesty lemons & orange peel . It pairs with almost any food, but it’s at it’s best with salty or mature cheeses, oriental & spicy foods.
Region – Rueda
Winery – Bodegas Cabra Loca
Alcohol % – 13
Pairing – Fish, seafood & fantastic with Foie gras
Teresa’s Notes –
Intense, very fruity & unctuous. A tropical blast of pineapple, guava, banana & mango.
To be called a Verdejo, the wine must be made from at least 85% of the Verdejo grape. Rueda is the word for wheel in Spanish…look out for the Rueda wines …they feature a wheel in their logo!
